Sustainability Role in overall company's strategic plansWe aren’t perfect, but our strategy has always aligned with the sustainable context. We are one of Europe’s most certified textile companies, emphasising to our partners that sustainability isn’t an obligation for us; it is part of our DNA. The sustainable mission that started in 2006 persists to this day, and that’s why we take pride in the certifications achieved over the years. Part of our strategy is being comfortable calling out the truth about sustainability, even if it means criticising ourselves. Remember that today’s minor details are tomorrow’s significant milestones.Sustainability initiativesSustainability is set under three pillars. Financial Sustainability. Social Sustainability. Environment Sustainability. Developing on the last pillar, we have been undertaking general initiatives such as planting trees (re-foresting the north of Portugal) or heavily focusing on renewable energy (we are more than 70% auto-sufficient), and initiatives focusing on making our industry a better place. For example, creating the first Eco-Denim collection that comes to life through an innovative process that consumes up to 16% less process time, up to 97% less water, up to 47% less energy and up to 45% fewer CO2 emissions than standard processes, or creating an upcycled fashion collection using 100% textile waste.Pledges for the yearBy next year, we want to become 85% auto-sufficient and continue expanding our green philosophy to more countries, brands, and people…Social equity at your companyThe last certification we have achieved is solely focused on our workers. Only thirty-four companies in Portugal currently have SA8000 certification. It focuses on human and worker rights as well as staff well-being. In terms of social sustainability, we have several initiatives, such as: - no employee receiving the minimum wage; - providing financial assistance to employees with children to help cover school supplies; - distributing profits annually; - offering birthdays as vacation days; - taking care of the health and nutrition of our employees (offering fresh fruit to employees, partnerships with ophthalmologists/eyewear stores, etc.); - Inviting institutions (mental health, elderly, etc.) to visit our facilities and spend an exciting day; - collaborating with nursing homes and daycares to create sustainable, handmade products (the rugs from our 2023 Munich fair); - promoting lectures on breast cancer, domestic violence, etc.; - Making annual blood donations as a team; - …
